Dr. Hyong Jin Cho is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at UCLA and a board-certified psychiatrist with research background in epidemiology and psychoneuroimmunology. His current research consists of translational research andhuman experimental studies, particularly in older adults. Thematically, his research has been broadly focused on the biobehavioral mechanisms connecting physical and mental health.He is currently investigating inflammatory mechanisms of sleep disturbance, fatigue, and depression—three constructs often collectively named as “sickness behavior”. He is the recipient of the NIH K23 Career Development Award, the UCLA CTSI KL2 Translational Science Award, the NARSAD Young Investigator Grant, and several other awards from institutions such as American Psychiatric Association, Southern Psychiatric Association, American Psychosomatic Society, Korean Neuro-Psychiatric Association, Friends of the Semel Institute, and Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center.
